A chance interaction on an airport ramp started with a greeting and has blossomed into a partnership focused on advancing aviation training in the Tri-State area and supporting budding pilots begin, endure and achieve their Vision of learning to fly.
Our Vision is to provide aviation training with a Part 141 curriculum to individuals in a Part 61 environment. Visionary Aviation Academy (VAA) was created in response to a need for high-quality, safety-centered, and cost-effective aviation training.

VAA strives to provide our students with not only the highest level of training, but also a lifelong love of flying while staying active in their local aviation community.
Regardless of your reasons for learning to fly, the VAA family will walk the path with you, providing the training and support you need to achieve your goal(s).
Susie brings over 20+ years of aviation management experience to Visionary. She has worked on both the Operational side as well as the Airworthiness side. Prior to aviation she worked in the educational field with Middle school and High school students. Susie has worked as a consultant for the past few years and finally decided to combine her love of education and passion for aviation to open a flight school. Bringing all the knowledge of things she saw as positive in the industry and working to improve the weaknesses she saw in aviation training to create a SAFE, Quality Training program for students in a cost-effective manner. She also co-chairs the Tri-State Aviation Consortium in order to advance aviation education in the local schools and bring education and industry together, to produce a quality workforce development program in the Tri-State area. She is also a FAASTEAM representative, working with the local FAA Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) to promote aviation safety. Susie is a member of the 99’s, Women in Aviation, EAA and very active in the aviation community. She began her career managing a flight school and has now come full circle, to be able to help others succeed in aviation by coming back to the flight school environment.

Joseph is a retired Naval Surface Warfare Officer with over 20+ years of experience in program management. His son’s passion for aviation became his own. Now some months later finds himself an airplane owner and partner in a flight school. As with any parent, I wanted a flight school experience delivering clear communication with high standards of safety and professionalism.
Visionary Aviation is a flight school that desires to bring the community a generation of pilots and certified instructors with a love for aviation. Such a love for aviation that drives themselves and their peers to be better pilots and instructors in their journey to join the world of aviation be it as a pilot or in any number of aviation related fields.
